We are so proud of our Sonia Sotomayor students for their incredible performance at Saturday night’s Sioux Falls Skyforce game!

They did an amazing job singing the Mexican National Anthem, representing our school with confidence and pride. The coaching staff and players from Mexico City were truly impressed!

Thank you to our students for their hard work and dedication—you made it a special night!

Everybody Reads… Tales on the Trails!

Our school has officially transformed into a reading adventure for 2026! From colorful walls to paw prints leading the way, every corner invites our students to explore, imagine, and fall in love with books.

We are sitting right under 8,000 books and hope to reach 20,000 by March 31st !!

Families, you can help us reach our goal! Keep reading at home and send your child’s reading to school by writing down:
• Book title
• Number of people who read or listened
• Your child’s class number

Students can turn this in as paw prints to the Library!

Thank you so much for supporting our reading adventure—we couldn’t do it without you!

Dear Families, Our Lost & Found is currently full of items, and we’d love your help in reuniting them with their owners! Thanks to the generous time and effort of parent volunteers, all items have recently been sorted and organized, making it much easier to locate missing belongings. We have a large number of items, including coats, hats, gloves, water bottles, lunchboxes, and several snow gear bags. We encourage you to ask your child to check the Lost & Found or stop by yourself if you are in the building. You may be surprised at what you find! Any items not claimed by April 17th will be donated. Thank you for helping us keep our Lost & Found manageable and for supporting our school community. We also extend a big thank you to our volunteers for organizing everything!

4th Grade Water Festival Field Trip

Our 4th graders had a great time at the Sioux Empire Water Festival at the University of Sioux Falls last Tuesday!

Students explored interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that taught them about water conservation, aquatic life, wetlands, and water safety. It was a fun and meaningful way to learn how we can all help protect one of our most important natural resources.

Check out some highlights from their day!

conference

Dear SSE Families,

Parent-Teacher Conferences are here! This is such a meaningful time for families and teachers to connect and support our students’ success. It also means some very long days (and evenings!) for our amazing teachers and staff.

Each year, our wonderful PTO provides snacks and meals during conference week to help keep our teachers fueled and feeling appreciated. We would love your help in making this possible!

If you would like to contribute, you can:

  • Send a donation via Venmo to

    @SoSoPTO

  • Drop off cash or a check at the SSE office (please label it “PTO – Conference Meals”)

No amount is too small—every contribution helps us show our teachers how much we value their time, dedication, and care for our students. A warm meal and a few extra snacks truly make a difference during these long evenings.

Thank you for partnering with us to support the incredible staff at SSE. We are so grateful for our generous community!

With appreciation,

SSE PTO 💙

Our Lobos Leaders asked… and our school community answered! 🐺💙

Over the past two weeks, we collected donations for the two Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota houses right here in Sioux Falls. After meeting with RMHC Volunteer Coordinator Samantha Dixon to learn what families need most, our Lobos Leaders jumped into action — and our community rallied behind them!

Because of the generosity of our students, families, and staff, nearly 10,000 items were donated! From toothbrushes and toothpaste to juice boxes and cereal cups, every single item will help provide comfort and care to families staying at RMHC.

We wrapped up our drive during Friday’s Kindness Celebration with some special guests who reminded us of the power of kindness in our schools and beyond:

Kevin Miles, CEO of RMHC

Dr. James Nold, Superintendent of Sioux Falls School District

Paul TenHaken, Mayor of Sioux Falls

Our Lobos Leaders put on an incredible celebration and reminded us all that kindness creates ripple effects far beyond our school walls. Together, we proved that when Lobos lead, our community rises. 💙✨
