RMHC recycles the tabs and uses the funds raised to support families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
There are 36 schools across South Dakota competing, and we are currently in 4th place! 💪
Some of our Lobos Leaders delivered our tabs to RMHC for our first weigh-in, and we had a whopping 99 pounds! 🐺🎉 We know we can do even better!
Keep collecting those tabs! We love a healthy little competition—especially when it does so much good for others.
Ask your friends, family, and workplace to save tabs for us, and send them to school with your child.
Let’s do this, Lobos! 🐺💙

La Tienda de los Lobos (K–2)
We are looking for parent volunteers to help run La Tienda de los Lobos, our student reward shop for K–2. Volunteers will help supervise students, count tickets, and support a smooth shopping experience.

Student Leadership in Action!
Lobos Leaders Alexandra McCall and Eden Neuharth showed awesome leadership by contacting our District Superintendent, Dr. Jamie Nold, to ask if Sonia Sotomayor Elementary could place collection bins around the Instructional Planning Center (IPC) to collect pop tabs. Their dedication didn’t stop there—they also reached out to Missy Braak at Central Services, and we now have a collection bin there as well!!
Alexandra and Eden were warmly greeted by Dr. Jamie Nold and School Board Member Gail Swenson, who took time to welcome the students and recognize their initiative. Dr. Nold even gave the girls a tour, allowing them to see more of the district’s work behind the scenes! Thank you, Dr. Nold for taking the time to give the girls a tour!!
And thank you to all the staff at IPC and Central Services for helping us collect tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and helping us on the leaderboard in the Pop Tab Pandemonium contest with 36 other schools across South Dakota!
Would you place a collection bin at your worksite? If so, a descriptive little sign to place on the bin can be picked up in the school office!

If you would like a tour of the school or learn more about Spanish Immersion at Sonia Sotomayor, please call the school office at 605-367-4655.

Did you know that there are currently almost 800 students classified as homeless in the Sioux Falls School District? This means they are living in a situation that is not meant to be permanent housing. Some are living in shelters, motels, doubled-up with other families, in cars, and worse. Many of these kids rely on school to provide two nutritional meals, 7 hours of heat, and safety. We want to make sure each of these students has a new fleece blanket to take home before the long winter break from school. Will you consider helping?
Volunteers are needed to make blankets! Join us on Saturday or host a blanket-making party of your own.
Donations of fleece and funds are needed. Please consider making a donation today!
Because of our generous volunteers, we have been able to provide 43,000 blankets to children and families in need over the past 19 years!! WOW!!

A huge thank you to Isla Carrier-Damon, one of our amazing students, for bringing donuts for the staff today! Your thoughtfulness and generosity brightened our morning. We appreciate you, Isla!
