We are having SO much fun during this first day’s of school!!
We kicked off first day with the great song Madre Tierra, practiced a tornado drill and a fire drill and ended our Friday with a whole school assembly reviewing goals and expectations for the year!

On Friday, August 25th, the Sioux Falls Canaries will host their annual Kids Night at The Birdcage. ALL kids 12 and under will receive free admission thanks to many generous community partners. In addition, this is the last Fireworks Friday of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm vs. Lincoln.

SFSD congratulates its valued partner Steve Hildebrand of Promising Futures! Steve recently received the Community Service Award from the Associated School Boards of SD for his work to remove economic barriers so all students can see their bright futures ahead. Thank you, Steve!
Final Fall REGISTRATION for Elementary Specialized Schools “Fee” busing, is now open Aug 1st to Aug 9th at noon for the 2023-24 school year. This will be the last chance to register for Fee Busing for the first day of school.

Please register, using the link below, before the deadline of Aug 9, 2023 at noon. (You may need to copy and paste the link to your web browser to get the link to open.) Registration will not open again until Oct 1st, no exceptions.

The Power of Partnership is highlighted, once again, to help SFSD families get connected to affordable internet. The SF Area Community Foundation is investing $50,000 to enroll households in the Affordable Connectivity Program (AFP). SD Voices for Peace leads the effort.
Voices for Peace is working with SFSD schools to inform families of this program. An enrollment specialist will continue to meet families during school events like parent-teacher conferences, success nights, etc. Eligible families should enroll today! GetInternet.gov
Calling all income eligible SFSD children who will be 4-yrs-old by September 1, 2023! We're recruiting students for FREE preschool with an event on July 5 or 6, 8am-4pm, at the SFSD Learning Lab on the Southeast Tech Campus - 2205 N. Career Ave. Tell your neighbors and friends!

We have another Workzone Awareness Billboard Contest winner! Caylee McCkay's design urging caution in construction zones will be on display on I-29 off the Madison/Colman exit. To make things even more special, this design comes from the same Sonia Sotomayor classroom as Annika Kimber's, who won her own billboard artwork display just one month ago! Congratulations to this classroom of talented 4th graders!
